Annalisa Bocchetti is a scholar in the field of early modern literary cultures of the Indo-Islamic world. She earned her MA and PhD degrees at University 'L'Orientale' of Naples, in Italy.
With a particular emphasis on the tradition of Sufi romances in the Avadhi language, her research deals with storytelling, religion, and multilingualism. She has recently joined Ghent University as a FWO junior post-doctoral fellow to work on one such Sufi romance, Usmān's Citrāvalī from the seventeenth-century, and its later adaptions in other Indian languages and literary forms circulating in Islamicate India.
