Charles DiSimone is Associate Professor of Buddhist Studies and Indology in the Department of Languages and Cultures at Ghent University. He is a specialist in the literature of Buddhist traditions in and around South Asia and their transmissions. His research interests include the applications of philological, codicological, and critical analysis of Buddhist sūtra manuscripts and literature, both Mahāyāna and Mainstream. He is currently the principal investigator of the ERC funded project: Corpora in Greater Gandhāra. Tracing the Development of Buddhist Textuality and Gilgit/Bamiyan Manuscript Networks in the First Millennium of the Common Era.
