Cynthia Van Hee is a lecturer and post-doctoral researcher at the LT3 Language and Translation Technology Team at the Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication (Ghent University). She holds a PhD in computational linguistics from the University of Gent (Belgium) on automatic irony detection, entitled: “Can Machines Sense Irony?” (2017). As a postdoctoral researcher, her main research focus lies on sentiment analysis on social media and in newswire text.
As a lecturer, she is actively involved in the CALM (Computer-Assisted Language Mediation) postgraduate program at the Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication. She teaches, amongst other things, Natural Language Processing, Audiovisual Language Techniques, Project Management, Desktop Publishing, Subtitling and Dissertation Writing.
