Roland Breeur teaches Modern and contemporary French philosophy at KU Leuven. After writing his PHD on Marcel Proust, studying and publishing work on Bergson, Merleau-Ponty and Sartre, his investigation focused more on the origins of French Modernity (from Descartes to Malebranche). Today, his research interest is partly concentrated on Spinoza’s Ethics, trying to make more explicit and take seriously what Deleuze means when he classifies Spinoza as anti-Cartesian. Recent publications focus on the “phenomena” of stupidity, imposture and lies.
