Sofie Avery obtained a Master of Arts in Philosophy (Ghent University) in 2019. Sofie is working as a predoctoral researcher and member of the assisting academic staff at the Department of Philosophy and Moral Sciences at Ghent University.
Sofie co-teaches undergraduate courses on applied ethics and continental philosophy. Their doctoral research focuses on debates regarding exclusions in (the history of) feminism and contemporary manifestations thereof. More specifically, they take as a starting point the conversation surrounding intersectionality as a hailed solution for historical and contemporary fault lines in feminism. Sofie's research, teaching, and activist practice are cross-contaminating and equally great sources of inspiration.
