- This informal event will celebrate the power of words and music, bringing together academics, songwriters, musicians, and music journalists. We will explore the fruitful possibilities of exploring music and literature alongside one another, celebrating the richness and versatility of song lyrics and the poetic power of music. The event will launch Swifterature, the latest book by UGent-er Elly McCausland, which explores the relationship between English literature and the music of pop phenomenon Taylor Swift. Following a reading from Swifterature, the evening will feature a panel discussion with Francis Mus (UGent), Elly McCausland (UGent), Heidi Lenaerts (VRT), and Sergei Christian (Call It Off), centring on the ability of musical texts - in all their forms - to enrich our lives. Guests can also enjoy live music by singer Astrid Stockman. There will be opportunities for audience Q&A and to purchase signed books by Elly McCausland and Francis Mus.
